hahahah, I've never even heard of these things until last week, and I swear it's been non-stop ever since!

  2. I don't blame you. Our toys r us opened at midnight, we drove by at 1 and the line wrapped around the store 3 times! maddness

  3. LOL nothing wrong with that. I only went because I love to shop more than anything!

  4. I just heard of these stupid things when I was at toys r us. Dumb. But just as dumb as our cabbage patch kids that our parents stood in line for when we were kids. :) Thank God my kids have no idea what they are. We can still get away with webkinz. :)

  5. My daughter got sent onte of those go-go pets last week for her birthday (from her godparents in the UK). I had never heard of them before - as she opened it she screamed in delight about how much she had wanted one (who knew?) and I was just thankful that someone else had taken care of it. Also, for some weird reason, hubby loves Black Friday so I sent him out with the list - ha, ha!

  6. I don't get why the big hype about these Zhu Zhu pets? I'm taking advantage of these next couple of years while my girls are still little and aren't demanding anything specific for Christmas (yet)! Hope you enjoyed your sleeping in on Friday! :)

  7. I'm lucky enough to have a daughter whose Grandpa scours the planet in search of what will make her happy at that particular moment. He found these things for her - not sure how, not sure I want to know where.

  8. I seriously don't get the whole Zhu Zhu pet craze... they are CRAZY expensive, and buying just one set makes for the most boring toy in the world!

  9. LOL.

And your little Turkey is adorable!!

  10. Thanks goodness my daughter is only 4 months old!! Though, when she is old enough to start asking for things - I'm sure there will be something ELSE that MUST be had because all the cool kids are getting one!

  11. If your kids really want one, try googling zhu zhu tracker. We were able to get one from toysrus.com using it. :)

  12. I didn't go either, I haven't been in over 10 years. Wild horses couldn't drag me out in that mess.

  13. Heehee! I'm a mean mom, too. I stayed home all day Friday. No Christmas shopping for me.

  14. we went to walmart but it wasn't near as bad as last year--i have no idea what a zuzu doll is but I can say I had to tell my son there was no way we were getting him what he wanted when he told me all he wanted for Christmas was a big vacuum--my husband is in charge of cleaning the church and my son is in love with the big vacuum

  15. You wouldn't believe the people around here trying to get their hands on these things! It is crazy! Crazier still is that this brings to mind all the fuss over the Cabbage Patch Kids when my first child was young. Wow. I'm getting really old! ;)

  16. I don't "do" Black Friday either. The only year I even thought I wanted to was 2004 when I gave birth at 7:49am Black Friday morning. You always want what you can't have, right?? Hormones must have been making me delusional... :)

  17. i woke up at 2:30 am and said screw it and went back to bed...mean mom here!!! i did go at 8:30 and it was ;ess busy than when i went the week before!!

  18. Good thing I read some of the comments - I had no idea what that hamster thing had to do with Black Friday or Toys'r'us...I'm very glad that my kids have no idea as well!

  19. I didn't stand in line black friday for them. I stood in line yesterday! Thankfully it was only for half an hour. Now I'm a hero. lol. I guess it's payback for making my mom find me a Furby!

  20. I hate Black Friday and I hate crowds.. so I don't blame you. And I guess I am really lucky, because I dont even know what the heck that thing is!

    ReplyDelete
  21. You mean you don't want your children to own a faux hamster who needs faux daily exercise???!

    Me either.

  22. Honey--Lucky for us my children continue to be enamored with 'Fur Real' pets--much cuter and readily available!!

  23. oh man I forgot how miserable life gets when other kids who get crap like that rub it into the faces of kids who's parents don't cow into getting every stupid thing that comes across on a commercial. I am really thankful my girls are not there yet. cause I know... heaven help me when they need to start keeping up with the jones. I will most definitely earn my stripes for being one mean momma cause it ain't happen'n not on black friday or ever those things are just dumb.

  24. haha! Awesome!

  25. A friend was warned about these during a recent toy store visit, so she bought them for her kids for Christmas as a preventative measure. I'm thankful mine are too young to be into them, but I'm sure I'll be faced with a similar challenge in a year or so...

  26. Well I'm sad to say that I made hubby stand in 2 different lines at the wee hrs but we did get 2 of those stupid hamsters for the tot.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Zhu Zhu pets are an ideal gift -- they're as cute as hamsters, you don't have to feed them and there's no messy clean-up

    ReplyDelete
  28. I guess I may be worse as I have to flippin idea what that animal car thing is?!

  29. Whoa, this is the first I've heard of the zhu zhu craze. Seems like a good choice, though, ignoring it 'til it goes away. Empirically, the must-get toys are always the most detestably irritating.

Tickle Me Elmo: a shrieking monstrosity.

Furby: locked up in the closet by Boxing Day

Tamagotchi: fun for three days, 'til the incessant beeping makes you yank all the batteries out

Whenever my parents went to crazy lengths to get me must-have toys as a kid, they always ended up being the toys I played with the least. Whereas enduring classics like Legos and the Little House books continue to delight me to this very day.

  30. My friend was trying to explain these things to me a couple of weeks ago and I had no idea what she was talking about. When I saw your post I immediately made the connection (I'm impressed with my intelligence...and memory). I never bought into the "current" craze either when my kids were growing up. OK, that's a lie. I admit standing in line for Cabbage Patch dolls, Transformers, Star War figures, Nintendo games, etc. What can I say? I bow to peer pressure.

  31. Guess that makes me a mean mom too. My 6 year old wants one for Christmas...I told her she could buy one in February.

No worries about missing out with the mob on Black Friday...you can buy them online for $350 (suggested retail price $10). I would like to know WHO decides WHAT is going to be the HOT item of the year?

I have also made a personal commitment that I will NEVER shop Black Friday. I do not like crowds or pushing women that much. My time is worth A LOT of money!

    ReplyDelete
  32. The savings isn't worth the lack of sleep, standing in the cold, and then the psuhing and fighting involved to get one of the priced reduced items. No Thanks!

  33. I think I might have just peed my pants! I didn't try either... but mom has gone to every store in town collecting every little piece to make sure all the grandkids are covered. I have no problem letting her be the hero this year. :)

Love your blog - you seriosly give me a daily dose of hilarious and I'm always anxious to catch your next post!

  34. I live in Austin, TX and we are very lucky that they haven't become popular here. Our Utah cousins spent the entire Thanksgiving break freaking out over those stupid things.

  35. I can't believe the cue, I wouldn't have tried either, no way.

I have tagged you on my blog for a Christmas Meme, I hope that you will post with your answers. http://www.justbeingamum.com/2009/12/02/some-christmas-fun-getting-to-know-you/ .. Just a bit of fun.

  36. oh so THAT'S why everyone was lining up at Toys R Us way before midnight? crazy! i LOVE doing the black friday shopping, blogged about it, but there was no way i was going near toys r us.

  37. This made me chuckle out loud at work....

  38. this was nuts!! amazon is the only place with them left and is charging 50! For something that was 10! 150 for things that were 20! ack

    ReplyDelete
  39. I did, though not for the zhu zhu. When I think of what Hell must be like, I am convinced that it must be like Toys R Us was on that miserable Friday (if you can really even call 12 a.m. Friday). We were there at midnight, stood in the block-long line, had our (2) items within twenty minutes of the store opening, then stood in line for the next 90 minutes. I would have put my things down and walked out, but there was literally no way out. We were er...belly to butt, as they say. Never, never, ever again.....
