Cameron is starting to recognize people he knows. Whenever I ask him where Camber is, he points to his sister. He also can correctly identify his brothers and dad.
Things become a little more difficult, however, when I ask him to identify his primary caregiver.
"Where's mommy?" I ask pointing at myself.
Without fail, Cameron responds by looking out the window or staring off into space.
"I'm right here!" I hoot as I do jumping jacks and metaphorical back flips in my living room.
Eventually my son's eyes shift to the cat, who is sleeping on the arm of the sofa. He giggles and points at the animal.
"Little stinker," I mumble under my breath.
It's as if the harder I try to get his attention, the more he ignores me.
Clearly dating taught me nothing about men.
Ignore him then he'll want you more right?!? ;)
ReplyDeleteloved this post.
hahaha...wow, what a correlation! too funny- love it!
ReplyDeletemy daughter did the same thing to me.. it drove me nuts and she knew it! To this day ( she's now two) when you ask where daddy is, she points to her daddy. When you ask where mommy is, she points to her daddy and laughs.
ReplyDeleteHehehe - well with a face like that how can you not just fall at his feet and beg for his attention.
ReplyDeleteHe's probably totally bored with the question. He's thinking what do you mean where is mom? Of course you are right here holding me. Probably too smart like the rest of your kids
ReplyDeleteLol! Sounds like he is a tease already.
ReplyDeleteMen are fickle creatures, and he's in training.
ReplyDeleteSounds adorable! I've had a few teasers, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt made me so happy to click on your blog and see that picture. What a cutie pie!!
ReplyDeleteOf course, I'm sorry he won't acknowledge you, but he's so doggone cute, surely you can overlook it.
Hahaha, so funny!
ReplyDeleteHe is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletesigns of high intelligence - teasing his mom at such an early age. Just wait til he's a teenager! Ack!
ReplyDeleteAdorable photo!
Laughing at "eventually my son's eyes shift to the cat ..."
ReplyDeleteGreat post. He is adorable! And clearly looks nothing like the cat, must be dad's genes ( :
and why do they never grow out of that stage??
ReplyDeleteMy oldest used to refer to me as Dada! He'd do it on purpose even though he knew who I was...little stinker is right!
ReplyDeleteI think they think you and they are one in the same. That's why he has no idea--he thinks you're him!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Whenever my mom asks my puppies (who stay with my parents) where I am - they run to the back door and start barking wildly...must be a men and animals thing! LOL!
ReplyDeleteOkay you know the way to a man's heart is through food right. Wait til he is really hungry then as you feed him do the "Who is Mommy" thing.
ReplyDeleteTypical male.
hahahahaha! This one cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteCaleb does this, too. He can beam and yell, "Da!" to Daddy, but I'm chopped liver. But he does give me the most (unfortunately french) kisses, so I think he makes up for it! You have a heart breaker on your hands!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has similar issues. She's 18 months old and knows quite a few words by now.. she says "Daddy" expertly, but ask her to say "Mama" and she blurts out "Daddy." She calls my parents daddy.. everyone is daddy. So. Annoying. I practically yell "mama" in her face on a daily basis.. she just replies, "Daddy!"
ReplyDeleteOhh, that's funny as sin! I feel your pain - my daughter did the same thing.
ReplyDeleteHe is such a handsome little boy!
Happy, Healthy & Joyous Holidays to you and yours!!
My toddler does the same thing, unless I leave the room without her and then I can hear her howling "Mama!" over and over throughout the house. Sometimes I leave just to reassure myself that she really knows who I am.
ReplyDeleteLove the post!
ReplyDeleteTOO FUNNY!!!! I remember when I'd try to get mine to say Ma-Ma! He'd look me in the eye, grin, and without fail say, "Da-Da!" Little booger.
ReplyDeleteGREAT last line. How true that is. :)
ReplyDeleteHee, hee. Can't wait till he starts talking. I used to play a game with my girls: What does a dog say? Ruff, ruff. What does a cat say? Meow. What does a chicken say? Cluck, cluck. What does Mommy say? Blah, blah, blah! Never played that one again.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you need to play hard to get.
ReplyDeleteMy son knows my name and likes to say it over and over and OVER again, except for the fact that while he is saying it, he is not talking to me 90% of the time but instead his father, he is 2 years old and in his mind he has 2 Mom's! We will get him to say daddy here and there but never is it consistant. For being a total daddy's boy you would think he would know how to say that persons name! I do however love how your son looks off into the yonder as if his eyes were distracted by a shiney object whenever your name comes up.
ReplyDeleteI have a 2 year old niece who won't say my name. But she will say Taylor Swift. My sister told me I need to get famous. (P.S.He is BEAUTIFUL! His big blue eyes could melt the Grinch's heart! What a punkin!)
ReplyDeleteHe just doesn't want to embarrass you - I mean really, if mom doesn't know who she is, what kind of rude child would point out her issues? He is just trying to distract you from your obvious confusion . . . :-)
ReplyDeleteWhen I ask my two year old who his favorite mommy is he with hesitation replies "daddy"! Kim
