Q&A

Q: What is more awesome than a blizzard the weekend before Christmas?

A: A blizzard + 4 children + husband with the stomach flu

The Plague struck the first of my offspring at exactly the right time (one hour before my husband's work Christmas party on Friday night), though not in the most desirable place (on the freeway in bumper-to-bumper traffic).

I got hit on Sunday morning.

P.S. After much hair-pulling and wandering aimlessly through the mall, my husband did manage to rustle up some holiday gifts for his employees, or at least so he claimed. He wouldn't tell me what he ended up buying, and I probably don't want to know. Innocence is bliss.

See you tomorrow.

  5. Yuck! Hope you all feel better soon! My daughter got croup last Saturday... which turned into a virus... AND an ear infection... Now my husband and I are pretty much down as well. We missed Chanukah, and I'm guessing it's going to be a Chinese food type Christmas.

  11. Praying all are well before Friday. Although, I think Christmas is coming late for a lot of people. Everyone is getting sick.

  12. My now grown kids tell me that simply placing the bowl near their heads was enough to inspire vomiting. The figured I had some kind of upchuck ESP and knew it was coming!

  14. Helpful advice: Dry erase board to keep track of everyone's meds and times given (including your own). No way my brain can keep track in times like that.

Also- good sick kid craft/time waster: have them string pony beads on a loooooong string (I used a plastic lanyard because I had some on hand) to make a festive garland for the tree.

  15. Lesson learned: keep some old towels in the car. And some plastic bags.

Tip for your week: a cornucopia of television

  17. At least you can all get over it and be done with it instead of stringing it out for weeks with somebody always being sick...right?? Trying to be encouraging ;)I think 1 of mine was sick all winter last year all at different times, the triplets share sippies so I don't know how they didn't get it all at once.

  20. For years whenever someone said "I don't feel very good..." my blood ran cold! Seriously, is there anything worse than the stomach flu? So sorry for you and your family.

  23. Ooh, that happened to us literally minutes after my fourth child opened her last 1st birthday gift. My then 5 year old unloaded all over herself. By the time we made the hour drive home, the rest of the kids and myself went down within hours of each other. It was not a pretty night for my husband :(

Glad to hear you're all through it now!

  25. I've been thrown up on at least 6 times since 3:30am.

Sick toddlers are really hard, but right now I'm praying my husband doesn't get it... that would be way worse!
