My Sister's Wedding

This is my sister Amy. And me. My sister agreed to let me poke fun of her wedding preparations IF I promised to post photographs of the actual event.

Well, the joke is on me. The wedding ceremony was AMAZING and the party afterward was PERFECT. Whales were present, but in far fewer quantities than I expected.

Here we go:
LDS Washington D.C. Temple
This is where Amy and Warren got married. Gorgeous, huh? You can find out more about Mormon temples HERE.

My sister's dress is actually a vintage flapper dress. It weighed a million pounds.

The morning before my sister's wedding, Camber decided to give herself bangs. I tried to slick them back as best as I could, but was largely unsuccessful. Where she got the candy necklace and why she is wearing it is a mystery to all of us.

Kellen spent the majority of the reception eating cake and drawing pictures of whales on a white board.

This is my brother Brian (age 21) who just finished serving a two-year Mormon mission in Madrid, Spain. He's headed back to Brigham Young University in July and needs a date in the worst way. He's borderline albino like me, but other than that, he's pretty much perfect. If you've got any suggestions, let me hear 'em!

*****

This is the talented photographer who took all of the above photographs (and 2340 more). Megan of Meg Ruth Photography was my sister's roommate at BYU, where she majored in Photography. Now she lives and works in Las Vegas. You can see more of Megan's work HERE and HERE.

If you like what you see, you're in luck! Megan does just about everything (family, newborn, weddings etc...)...and she travels!!!! What's more, she is one of the nicest people on the planet. She made everyone feel amazingly comfortable. Put simply, I adore her.

Amy and Warren: Congratulations! I am so incredibly happy for you.

  2. I was a little worried about the whale theme, but that is darling. The pictures look like they should be in Country Living. So cute!

  3. "Whale", it looks BEAUTIFUL!!! And her vintage dress is stunning!

And I only saw two whales...one on the chalk board and the one your son drew...

So, I have a 20 year old sister at BYU who is gorgeous, fun, and would hate me if I set her up on a date, but would also have a blast. :) So seriously...

We should set them up just for kicks and giggles.

  4. Oh I know some great girls that go to BYU, but they're off track until the fall semester.

  5. SUPER SUPER cute, chic, well planned and detail-filled wedding! Love it!

When did she get married Jana? You know I live in California? Well I did a wedding at the Washington DC Temple on May 22nd! lol My clients flew me out there for their event, which was the most amazing and generous thing/experience EVER!

I love her dress, it's beautiful.

If I only lived a little closer to Provo I'd be pouncing all over your brother! lol

  6. Seriously, did she get married the same day as my client?! I am going to be so bummed out if we just missed each other that day! At least so I could point and stare at your family and beg for your autograph! I did bridal/groomals on Friday, and the wedding was at 11am on Saturday, we were doing pictures on the Temple grounds under after 1pm. What a crazy coincidence if my suspicious are right! And I'm going to be so depressed if I flew 5 million miles across the country and missed you by mere moments!

PS: Where are all the whales?!

  7. Beautiful wedding! Really random... I am pretty sure I was Amy's Visiting Teacher for a few months at BYU. I have a cute sister-in-law starting BYU. :)

  10. I thought you were in charge of centerpieces...did I miss those?

You're sister is a doll! I was nervous for you, but it looked perfect! I love when a wedding fits a couple's personality and not the stereotype. Cool. Very.

  11. I really hate when people screw up their grammar...that should say "your" and not "you're". Duh.

  12. YOu know what? Unique families are the best. Unique families have way more fun than other families. You have a unique family. You are entitled to brag about them! (And the candy necklace it great!).

  13. Wow gorgeous dress I probably won't where it at mine. But if the dress I want is out of style by the time I get married I am finding me one of those.

  23. I live outside of DC and the Mormon temple is gorgeous. I always remember seeing the lights at dusk off the beltway and wondering what magic was there!

Where was your sister's reception? Just curious since it looks like so much fun! Love her dress (and yours!) by the way!

  24. Cute, cute, cute! What a great day for your family. I love the DC temple. I wish I knew any single ladies at BYU, but I left Happy Valley 6 years ago. Beautiful wedding!

  27. What a cool wedding! I love the whole vintage thing and Amy's dress was awesome!
More importantly, to me anyways :D, is that I have came up with the bright idea of having family portraits taken this summer, so of course I was put in charge of arranging everything. Hi, I live in Vegas, and ~I hope, I hope~ you just found my photographer for me! Looks like she's got a busy summer, but I'm going to email her right now and see if she can squeeze us in somewhere. Thank you!!
p.s. I love the family picture of you all with Amy and Warren!

  28. Megan was a good friend of mine at BYU. I met Amy once or twice so I looked at the photos on facebook before I realized that she was your sister. I sat there looking at pictures of you and your family that I recognized from your blog and just sat there as two of my unrelated worlds collided. When my husband asked how they collided I started in a big explanation. He asked for a summary. "Basically, two people that I don't actually know turned out to be sisters." He thinks I'm odd.

  29. I love the idea of the photo booth - with backdrop and props! Where was the reception held? I live in the DC area too.

  30. A beautiful and FUN looking wedding. Just had to comment and congratulate the happy couple since my son's name is Warren. ;) Hopefully he'll marry someone just as lovely... in 20 years.

P.S. I always look forward to reading your anecdotes. Seriously hilarious.

My niece is 18 and going to byu. Here's some of why she's the best and I'm dying to find her a date.

-She's crazy smart. Her vocabulary at 8 was better than my adult vocabulary.

-She's fluent in French from living in Paris for 2 years.

-She just finished sailing from San Diego to Hawaii for a semester at sea.

    -She's funny.

-She's not at all boy crazy.

-She has your coloring, if they procreated their kids would glow.

-She's beautiful but either doesn't notice it, or doesn't care.

She's the example my husband and I use to describe how we want our baby to be as a teenager. I want to tell her I'm setting her up with someone I don't know and only saw a picture of online, she would die. Let's do this!

I would totally call dibs on your brother as I'm 21 and live near dc...but I'm a diehard Catholic and feel like that might present a problem...

  39. her wedding is wayy adorable!

It embodies pretty much everything that I want in my wedding! I need to go see the DC temple, it's so pretty!

On my road trip to BYU Idaho this last weekend we saw like 5 temples or something.

PS. I'll be at BYU for summer term as well! I mean, not implying that I expect a date from your brother, I'm just sayin'.

Has he lived here before or is he totally new to the area?

Oh yeah, and I have LOTS of experience, bahahaha.

Leave me a comment on my blog. hippytothehop.blogspot.com

Maybe to make things easier on your brother he could just go out with all of the volunteered girls at once? Kind of like the ultimate speed date?

Looks like it was a lot of fun. Didn't realize your family was Mormon til reading this post. I am little confused by the pictures though. In the first one of you and your sister, you have on a red dress, but in the family shot you are wearing a lovely green print dress. Did you change outfits or did you shoot on 2 different days? Amazing how much you and your brother look alike, yet Amy has her own unique style and appearance.

I'm stunned...I love the uniqueness of the wedding...her dress is gorgeous and SHE is a gorgeous bride...they look so in love! I only saw a couple whale hints (slightly disappointing) and the whole soiree looks very classy and fun...Camber's bangs are the best...my daughter did a similar thing last Summer...fun times growing hair out!

Anyhoo, THANKS for the pics...please give her this strangers sincerest Congratuations!!!!! Beautiful day!

Generic Viagra is not a cure for anything; it is simply a treatment for a symptom. In some cases, sexual arousal issues Viagra from an underlying disease or condition and should that problem be cured, the need for Cialis will diminish.
