Christmas Cards

Further proof that I take my calling in life seriously: it's only the second week in September, but I've already ordered my Christmas cards.

The above image meets all of the requisites of a card-worthy family photo:

A) It was taken during a family outing, in this case a recent trip to Weeki Wachee State Park, home to a tank full of live mermaids.

B) At least one of my children is not looking at the camera.

C) It will look amazing blown up and framed above my mantle.

D) It highlights my exceptional assets.

Some requisites are more important than others.

  1. At first glance all I could think was: Man - your hubby is buff and strangely large...

On an entirely different note: How long do those mermaids have to breathe like that? I would die from lack of oxygen and general lack of knowhow (I can't swim)

  8. Ooh, nice assets! (Was that in poor taste?)
I love family photo taking. Two years ago I had to photoshop my six year old son into the final version because halfway through the shoot he refused to participate. It was easier than trying to coax him back.

  9. It's been a while since I've been here, but you never fail to inspire. Christmas card photo has just jumped to the top of my to-do list. After I'm done with that I'll run to the school and drop off the kids' lunch money.

  12. LOL What a great Florida Christmas card photo. That place is hysterically kooky. I took my older ones when they were little and they were in awe at the live mermaids. I was just thinking I needed to take my little one there while she will think they are real. Sadly it is only 45 min away. You never appreciate the fine culture opportunities when you live near them. ;)

  24. I love the way you all look so happy, but some creepy golem-like creature is about to climb over that shell and attack from behind. It's that perfect moment where the viewer can see his hand but the people in the picture are still happy and innocent.

  26. Great picture and great idea to use it for your Christmas cards!

I love the old theme parks in Florida. If you get a chance, you may want to check out Dinosaur World which is between Tampa and Orlando (close to Plant City) right off of I4. October is a good month to visit since it's a little cooler and not as crowded.
