I was in a hurry and had my toddler with me and didn't feel like taking off both of my shoes so I only tried on one boot. I left the other one wrapped up in the box.
There are lots of reasons why you should try on both shoes before you make a purchase. This is one of them:
The alarm didn't go off when I left the store.I just did a "store locator" search online.
The closest store to me is the one where I bought the boots.

You can probably take it in to ANY store that has those security tags and have them remove it! Cute boots! I was just telling my husband that I need a pair of black boots and those are EXACTLY what I had in mind!

Since it's not an ink tag, you can just smash it with a hammer. I bought a purse once and they put the sensor inside the interior zippered pocket and by the time I noticed the stores were closed, so my bf just broke it off with a hammer.

ReplyDeleteFun. I went out shopping with my four today to stores outside our normal range of driving. One of the stores charged me twice for the same item and won't take care of it over the phone. And they won't do it at any of the other closer stores. Really makes me mad that I have drive all the way out there again. Well, at least I have an excuse to go back to the Bed, Bath & Beyond next door (which was the reason for the excursion in the first place).
ReplyDeleteLooks like anything I'd suggest has been covered. I bought a pair of boots last year for ice fishing, and didn't take into account the number of socks I wear doing this. I was too stupid to take them back though. so now I'll be buying a new pair this winter I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteDefinately take the receipt with you to whichever store you do go to... otherwise, they may just think you shop-lifted them, and came to them for help in removing the security tag. You certainly do not look like a shop-lifter, but you would be surprised at what some criminals look like. Don't smash with a hammer though, you'll blemish the leather. The follow-up will be another tastey blog!!

ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in Alaska there were few places to shop. Thus, I ended up at JCPenney often. I swear to you, WITHOUT FAIL, they left a security tag on every time I went. I think it was their ploy to get me to come back and buy more. Granted, it wasn't an hour drive but it was downtown so it would take me at least half an hour to get there. And please don't ask why I didn't pay more attention. I realize how stupid it sounds now.

ReplyDeleteI have a pram we bought 4 years ago (yep 4 YEARS) which has a security tag still on it. We're still waiting for the kid that will use the pram so haven't taken it back yet to have the tag removed but amazingly I do have the receipt. How do you tell if the tag is an ink one or not I wonder.. if its not ink smashing it might be on the cards.

In keeping with the theme of leaving the tag on. Just have your son use a black magic marker to color the tag to match the boots.
ReplyDeleteSame thing happened to me, left the store no alarm . . . even though the store was only 10 minutes away it was still a hassle. My husband had some wire snippers and took care of it.

Ask them to put one on the other boot as well.
They'll never expect it.

get a pair of wire clippers (also called dykes) they will take it off without damage to the boot

ReplyDeleteI work in retail and I would suggest not taking it to a different store (like different company). At my store we are not allowed to remove security tags from clothing from other stores because we have no way of knowing whether the items were stolen or not, even if they have a receipt we can't do it.
ReplyDeleteI was visiting a friend in Brandon, MB (2-hr drive from Winnipeg). The day before catching my flight home, I took a jaunt to Winnipeg to shop as I live in a northern community with very little stores.
ReplyDeleteI got back that evening only to discover that a dye security tag was still attached to a skirt I bought. My flight was at 6am the next morning.
Luckily, a friend of a friend took the risk of removing it with a different type of machine from his store and everything turned out well.
That same thing has happened to me=stinks bad!

ReplyDeleteYep, any store should be able to take it off as long as you have the receipt. You can do it yourself at home with wire cutters too should you feel so inclined.

ReplyDeleteThere are Youtube videos that show how to remove these. I just recently had to remove one from a pair of jeans my son bought.

ReplyDeleteWe bought a pair of shoes for our son once at a store an hour away. We were careful to make sure that both shoes were the same size BUT when we got home we realized we had 2 right shoes!! Yep, we got to drive back the next weekend.
