Cameron

Just wanted to give those who are following a quick update on Cameron:

Overall he is continuing to improve, but yesterday we suffered a little setback. Cameron's most recent set of lab results revealed that his hematocrit levels have dropped significantly and that his bone marrow has all but stopped producing red blood cells again. Normally this would mean another transfusion, but his doctors have decided to give his bone marrow a chance to "get its act together and start doing its job" on its own. If his levels don't increase by Monday, they'll do the transfusion. Despite all this, we're doing well and are enjoying the little guy a lot.

oh, I am so sorry. Gabrielle - my baby born with RH disease - didn't make her own red blood cells for almost a year. I hope things go better for you with Cameron. Good Luck.

He's seriously adorable! I had to click through and comment on this one, because the face he is making in the 2nd picture is my FAVORITE thing that newborns do. Love it.

I am really glad he's doing okay, and hoping this current setback quickly rights itself.

Jana, He's so adorable. And despite all the setbacks he seems to be getting bigger and cuter. I need to get my little boys praying for him-- their prayers are like platinum level guarantees. In the meantime, I'll keep sending up my own bronze-medal prayers on Cameron's behalf.

He is a darling boy. My daughter Elliana (born at 1 lb. 2 oz.) had the same problem during her stay in the NICU. Just before she came home, her levels were at rock bottom but the doctors held out. I did give her vitamins with iron for a long time to help as well. She just turned 1 and when they checked her blood, she was right smack in the middle of the normal range. Hang in there. Prayers are answered.
