Our Little Bloodsucker

I've received a lot of emails about Cameron lately, and I apologize for being such a slacker about providing more regular updates on his condition. My husband and I have appreciated your ongoing thoughts and prayers. We have been overwhelmed by the amount of concern for our family and we feel so grateful to have your support, love, and encouragement.

The latest news on Cameron is good: his most recent set of labs show an increase in his hemoglobin level for the first time since his birth. Although it's too early to tell for sure, this seems (hopefully) to indicate that Cameron's bone marrow is starting to make red blood cells.
We're cautiously optimistic that he's done with blood transfusions for awhile. I am sad, however, to give up the vampire cape.

I truly hope, for the sake of all that is wacky and unholy in the universe (and for future reminiscing to Cameron's children), that he wears his cape at each tranfusion. Just saying...
I hope he continues to improve and you get to enjoy many many days of being the meanest mom to him too. You're a special woman to have been given this great gift. You and your family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

I love the cape - that's definately a keepsake item and should be worn at his blessing, if you haven't done so yet... LOL

I say keep the cape! Even if he is finally past the tranfusion stage of his life, the cape will always be a part of him.
That is my philosophical statement of the day. I am done now.

hahaha! So glad to hear you are all doing so well.

That is actually Cameron's birth announcement. The ladies at the company who made the announcement thought I was a little off my rocker when I made my request, but they understood (I hope) after I explained the situation!

I am so happy that his numbers are going up. What a blessing he is to you. I love the cape. I have a feeling, even though I don't really know you, that it would be a "jana thing" to put that cape on. lol

This post reminded me that I am also O Negative, and I haven't donated blood in over a year! I am going to get on that by the end of next week!

Delurking to say how much I love that announcement! SO perfect! Your humor and level-headedness (is that even a word? It is now!) are inspiring. You might be the meanest mom, but your kids are the luckiest kids to have you!

Yes! Yes! Give blood! Sadly, I've had one too many transfusions in the past few years to give any myself right now...but my husband gets drained regularly.
