Between the Hours of 3 and 5pm today...

I fought a losing battle with my six-year-old son over the proper spelling of the first person plural pronoun.

I have an 11 year old that thinks we should start a petition to change the spelling of 'we' to 'wii' in honor of Nintendo's brilliance. I wish I was kidding.

Wow...I never even thought about that...how Wii is pronounced "we" and that a 6 year old would think that's how it's spelled. So funny! ha ha

The first time I came across this I thought it was hilarious. I'm happy to report that the student now spells it correctly.

Duh...that is how you spell "we" nowadays...just wait until they start writing in text format...talk about a new foreign language!

Maybe he was writing that way in hopes of subliminaly getting you to buy him a wii. He thought you wouldn't notice. He is brilliant!

HA HA! Sadly, I can only imagine what all of the texting is doing to the older kids and their spelling...

Oh no! The Wii is ruining our spellers :)

I always thought that that puny little letter was a poor substitute for the First Person. I mean, in every other language it's at least two or three letters long--it sort of looks like someone one day just forgot the "ch", and it caught on.

So maybe a new spelling is in order.

That is THE CUTEST story I've ever heard! At least he's only 6.

A similar but not so funny story...I once saw a 9th grader argue with his teacher over the correct spelling of the word dog.

He was born and raised in Georgia...a Georgia Bull"dawg" fan. So, that's the only way he would spell the word dog.

This is hilarious! Wii love it!

That is funny. You know only teachers and other people with kids can read those sentences!

Heidi said...

I knew that was going to screw some kid up somewhere. I've just been waiting for it to happen. As for mii, I don't think it will be long before my 5 year old and I fight about that one too.
Last night we had a battle of wills over which direction a 6 faces.
Funny, funny!
Hope you don't mind me stopping by.

Oh man. My worst nightmare. I got out of teaching just before texting got big. But I did get an occasional "Ur" instead of "your" and I almost lost it.

Hahahahaha! My 11 year old son just asked us the other day, "Mom and Dad, if you both die, who gets the wii?" Nice. My husband replied, "Mom. It's hers, so bury it with her."
