Friends with Benefits

Our family cat is missing a few brain cells, but is smart enough to know that befriending a baby brings rewards.

Earlier this week, I went out to dinner with a group of friends.

If only I had thought to distract them long enough to swipe a few choice morsels of food off their plates.

Hey! Check this out! One of my old posts has taken new life (with my consent) as part of a recent Washington Post article.

I don't get it.. Why are you taking food from your friend's plates, and what does the cat have to do with it?

My cat does this all the time. I thought it was cute until he hissed at my daughter for trying to take her yogurt back.

Anonymous- you must be retarded!
My cat does the same thing! :D

We actually considered swiping the remnants of a cake from a schmancy restaurant. The diners had already left.

Clearly your cat needs to train your son better...a real professional would have the kid willingly forking the food over without the need for things like distractions and theft where pathetic kitten faces would suffice. Amateur.

My cat is an opportunist. He makes friends with the babies and sticks to them like glue, waiting for them to spit up formula, liquid gold to my cat. It sounds icky, but, it is true. Usually by the time I pick up the baby and grab a towel, the mess is gone and he is grooming his fur.

haha our cat has not yet learned this trick. so far he's only learned that living with a baby who crawls means lots of unwanted love "pats."

and anonymous: the cat takes food off her son's plate, and she was making a joke about being like the cat and taking food off HER friends' plates.

my 3 lb yorkie does the same only.....she realizes that if she waits until we remove the baby from the chair.....there will be even more where she was sitting than just on the tray!!! (we call her the clean up crew!)

My dog does the same thing. She sits between the girls and just waits. Food will eventually fall. Then she checks out the chairs after wards. My dog recently had surgery and I was amazed at how dirty my floor gets with her out of it. I actually had to sweep after our meals!

I know there are a LOT of people who allow it, but I can't imagine letting my cat walk on kitchen countertops and table, knowing he had just stepped out of his litterbox moments before. Cats are smart animals; they can be taught to know their place.

Do you like it or hate it that the Post article insinuates that you are okay with adult movies, just not in public places? I would assume you're not pro-porn, but maybe you are.
