Lazy and Crazy

I have a soft spot for Christmas leftovers. Try as I might, I just can't seem to keep my hands out of the 90% off bins at Michael's and A.C. Moore. On Saturday afternoon, I found myself holding three gingerbread kits and a foam nativity set.

"I have to have these," said the voice in my head I affectionately call Crazy.

"You can't even make a gingerbread house when its seasonally appropriate," said Lazy. "What makes you think that you'll make one now?"

"You could serve the shingles to your children for an afternoon snack," suggested Crazy, clapping her hands with excitement.

"That would raise the bar of after school snacks to a level I'm not willing to consistently reach," admitted Lazy, popping Crazy's balloon.

I put the gingerbread kits and nativity set back into the clearance bin.

I took home a reindeer pinata instead.

"What is that and why is it in my house?" asked my husband.

His heart softened considerably after learning that Rudolph only cost $1.47.

"What should we do with him?" I asked my kids.

Cortlen's idea earned the most votes.

We have no connection to Boise State, but somehow, for reasons unknown to man, we have produced the Broncos' # 1 fan.

I'm so glad Crazy and Lazy live in other people's heads too. I got a good laugh out of that.

I live in Boise, my husband lives and breathes Bronco football. Glad to see some love across the country. Oh, and thanks for all the laughs. You articulate all the joys of parenting so well!

Lol! I just wish I could go shopping by myself more often so I could listen to the crazies in my head instead of the little ones next to me.

And if you bust that thing apart now I will be very happy. Don't really like Boise very much.

I am so glad I read this before I went to sleep - don't ask me why but I was blog stalking a mommy crafting blog and feeling like a loser mom because I wasn't making my kid felt chinese fortune cookies for the 14 days of valentines day - - - I was feeling bad about the Lazy that lives in my head and if it would result in my daughter not being emotionally connected to holidays. ?! Which, why??! whatever . . .

I feel SO much better that I can see a good mom capitalize on the Crazy and have her kids LOVE IT!

That is one BRILLIANT child you have produced. I wouldn't call it crazy or lazy, but a stroke of genius obviously produced by your subconscious love of our beautiful blue turf. :) Although I have to admit, I can't decide if I'm impressed or appalled that my beloved Buster is a pinata. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Email me if you'd like me to send a few Boise State things his way. We even have a Fiesta Bowl ticket leftover from our trip that need a good home.

xoxo,
Crissie

LOVE this post! Too often the Crazy in my head triumphs over Lazy. This would explain the Rubbermaids full of craft supplies I've been carting all over the world. BTW...bought the foam nativity set I believe you are referring to. Yep, bought it THREE years ago, on clearance. Got the LAST one, I did. Just packed it away, unused...AGAIN. SO glad I snatched up that bargain.

Isn't it crazy that we all have a Crazy and a Lazy in our heads that are constantly at it?

Oh well, as long as you don't talk back, you can probably still consider yourself normal!

I would think you hated Boise State...so you made a pinata to beat it sensless! Maybe TCU fans should do that??? Might relieve some stress...

Well, we are Boise State fans! It's great to see us "represented" on a gosh-awful reindeer on The Meanest Mom! lol, whooo!

LOL!! Nothing says a nutritional after school snack like shingles that are likely 6 months old and were manufactured in a foreign country-YUM!! ; )

I was contemplating the gingerbread houses and accessories at our local Michaels on Saturday. Decided on getting ornaments and gift tags. Oh the things we do when Crazy, Lazy and OMG it's 90% off show up at the same time.

The Crazy in me keeps buying Christmas ornaments and decorations after Christmas. Then the Lazy feels complete remorse when I'm pulling all the millions of bins out at Christmas time and it takes me weeks to put them up. Glad to know I'm not the only one

My favorite post to date. I think my second favorite post was your one about photos with Santa and the question about the relation of popcorn to holy miracles. I think I got that right, it was very entertaining. Laughter is the best medicine and I check in often for my dose. Thanks!

OH come on you know you could totally use the gingerbread kits. Kids don't eat that part anyway they just eat the candy off of it. I've got a couple saved up for next Christmas. Yep I must be certifiably crazy!!!

Presidents' Day, Jana. It's not a gingerbread house, it's Lincoln's log cabin! And, possibly, 3 dental visits for chipped teeth from seriously OLD gingerbread cookies. I gu-ess you could build log cabins from pretzel rods and crackers, too.

Ha -- very cute pinata!

You make me laugh out loud. I love that I have discovered your blog and I've added it to my blog roll. I especially liked your "parting gift" post, but since your comments were closed, thought I'd comment here. I can so relate to Lazy & Crazy too!

Thanks for the laughs!
