Mr. Cupid

One day last December, my boys came home from church with a tongue depressor named Mr. Elf. The note attached to Mr. Elf instructed his guardian to do something nice for someone else and afterward, to leave Mr. Elf in location where the act of service was performed. The idea was that the recipient of the kind deed would pass Mr. Elf on to someone else in the family and so on.

Mr. Elf never made it out of his envelope around the holidays. I forgot all about the happy helper until Monday, when I found him alone and crying in the bottom of my junk drawer.

With the help of a red magic marker, Mr. Elf became Mr. Cupid.

Camber picked the longest straw and thus, earned the privilege of being Mr. Cupid's first steward. On Tuesday morning, she made Cortlen's bed and left Mr. Cupid on her brother's pillow.

Where it has remained for 4 days.

Happy Valentine's Day! Here's hoping Mr. Cupid has better helpers at your house!!!

Happy Valentines Day! Maybe if you make it into "Mr. Ninja" it will get passed on.... :)

What a cute idea! I hope Mr. Cupid gets a chance to make the rounds at your house hon...I have a feeling he'd be sittin' on the bed here too though!

We used to have a doll. They tried this in the office for a little while as well. The CEO received an act of service, and the little creature remained with him... what does that tell you about my job? Maybe, in honor of president's day, you can make it a Mr. Lincoln.

Ha.. that's funny Lisa.. I was thinking the same thing. Maybe if it was in the shape of a sword?

Oh that's funny... I have a kid who would eat Mr. Cupid before he would voluntarily do someone else's chores...

We've been trying to do "secret valentines" in our family this week...it appears that "secret valentine" is a distant cousin to "mr. elf"--so much for everyone feeling the love!

Do you have one of those creepy "Elf on a Shelf" things at your house during Christmas? Am I the only one who's slightly disturbed by him?

When I was a kid, our family did the same thing with a spatula or a star or something ... and it spent most of its time on the floor. We got sick of it staring at us every time we went to bed. =p: Poor Mom.

Upon first glance I thought Mr. Cupid was actually Mrs. Tampon.

Thank goodness I have faulty eyesight or would that be a sick mind?

Regardless,happy Valentines day!

Reminds me of a game we played once when I was subbing in Kindergarten. It was called "pass it on.." The kids sat in a circle, and the first one started holding some little stuffed thing. That child would say something nice about the person sitting next to them, and then "pass it on". One little girl said something nice about the boy next to her, smiled shyly at him and said, "pass it on." He did. Clear across the circle! I don't think he liked the kid who was next in line very much. At least that was the impression I got! Lol! Happy Valentines Day! (Pass it on.....) :)

I'm sorry "anonymous" is being a buttmuncher. Maybe you should turn your comments on so they HAVE to have a google/live ID. Maybe then they won't be so brave and stinky.

Great idea! But it does sound like something that would happen at our house. My kids are so obtuse.

Happy Heart's Day. Yep, my kids would leave it there too. Except the other's bed probably wouldn't have been made in the first place. Sigh.

My 11 year old son made me a Valentine that said, "Do you have a lover?". I wasn't quite sure how to respond to that. I agree with Candace I thought Mr. Cupid was Mr. Tampon too.

So sorry that you felt the need to delete your post about Becky. I personally didn't see anything wrong with it.

(Btw, I'm a first time commenter who doesn't have an account... not one of the 'Anonymous' who left those unkind comments.)
