Christmas Visitors Departing

So sad. My sister and her extremely nice unboyfriend decided to return to Ohio a day early (they're leaving tomorrow), so that they can spend Christmas with the unboyfriend's family. We exchanged gifts tonight; I didn't have time to go shopping for all of your excellent suggestions, but I did pick up a copy of Dr. Laura's fabulous read at the thrift store this afternoon. The unboyfriend was very excited about his gift, as was my sister: I got her, among other things, The Languages of Love.

That's awesome that you found the book at a thrift store! So sad for you that they are leaving.

Aw - that's great. And yes Jana - these strange events that occur in your home occur in every home with small children - though very few of us moms have the finesse like you when we write about it!!

Great gift.

All of this same craziness is alive and well in our home. I, however, can't make fun of my kids in my blog because they are 14 and 17 and can read. Well, my daughter can read; with my son's grades, I am beginning to wonder.

You mentioned Lucky Charms in your earlier post. I have to ask you how long a box of Lucky Charms lasts at your house. We've had Lucky Charm drama here this week. Each child thought the box of Lucky Charms was his or her own and when it was empty each one yelled at his/her sibling for "eating all MY Lucky Charms..." Now there are two large boxes of Lucky Charms on my counter - BOTH OPENED - so that neither one will be tainted by the hands of a non-owner. And my kids aren't five.
We are calling it Cereal Gate....

Nikki: Thanks for the positive reinforcement. Much needed!

HW: 1 box of Lucky Charms= 1 day, maybe 2 if I can keep my husband and my cat away from them.

Janae: my language of love is "service." Sweep my kitchen floor, I'll love you forever.

true story - my ever romantic husband gave me "The Proper Care and Feeding of your Husband" one Christmas - I keep forgetting to use the pages to wrap up his lump of coal...
