When was the last time you bought a dress that you didn't have to pair with a sweater that costs twice as much as the dress itself, a special bra, or weird looking undershirt?
Maybe it's just me, but it seems that stylish dresses that fit real women's bodies are going the way of the dinosaurs. Around these parts, they're virtually extinct. In their place, the timelessly sexy skirt + sweater set has taken over.
While I'm a girl who appreciates the flexibility of mix n' match clothing, there are occasions when I feel inspired to branch out from the world of adjustable waistbands. In these moments, I turn to Shabby Apple.
The ladies at Shabby Apple were kind enough to send me the Jackie O dress to try on for size.
Here are my thoughts uncensored:
* I'm relatively tall and the vast majority of so-called knee-length dresses sold in the mall hit me mid-thigh at best. Don't get me wrong, like most middle-aged women, I look smokin' hot in skin tight mini-skirts, but I am finding that a growing number of people consider those who dress less than half their age to be socially inappropriate. The Jackie O dress hits, as promised, perfectly at the knee.
* Most of Shabby Apple's dresses, including the Jackie O, "fit generously." Translation: If you fluctuate between clothing sizes depending on what's in your freezer, you'll most likely be okay with the size you order.
* Shabby Apple's summer line offers full coverage, but the cotton/spandex blend makes the dresses breathable and light. In other words, you won't sweat to death when you wear a Shabby Apple dress, even on the East Coast, where the humidity can knock your socks off.
Shabby Apple's BRAND NEW line of dresses is due out any minute and to celebrate, they're giving one lucky reader her very own Jackie O Dress!!!! All you need to do to enter this contest is to leave a comment. Want a second chance to win this dress? Post a link to this giveaway on your blog and leave a second comment!
It's that easy, and that awesome! The contest starts NOW and ends this FRIDAY, July 31 at midnight. The winner will be chosen at random, but comments expressing desperation are always appreciated and make me laugh.
Good Luck!

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 400 of 916 Newer› Newest»I could even nurse the baby in that dress. Pick me.
Oh, I cannot even tell you how this makes me desperate to not look like my skirt/sweater combo lives on my body all year long! Please, please pick me! ;)
squirrelsmom*@*hotmail*dot*com
I might have to make the husband take me out for a night on the town...PLEASE NUMBER GODS, make her pick me!~
Yay, a new piece of clothing! I have one pair of jeans and one pair of capris and that's it! I'd get my money's worth!
My best friend and I were just talking about how fabulous Shabby Apple is! She's even using one of their dresses (TBD) for her bridesmaid dresses at her wedding!
I do *not* wear dresses as a rule (and I'm not trying to be funny by doing a Not Me! Monday, a la MckMama), but I would love to try one of Shabby Apple's dresses, if they are as fabulous as you say. Count me in!
please pick me...
i don't want to wear my middle aged elastic waste dress any more!
I agree it is so hard to find a pretty dress that is also modest. I love shabby apple, but have yet to buy anything from their shop - it all looks so adorable though! pick me please!
Darling! I would definitely replace one of my.... older dresses w/ this cutie!
A new dress (size 18) gulp would be a wonderous thing to have....especially since I had to explain why I bought a new pair of tennis shoes to the hubby....he doesn't understand the concept of buying shoes when the old ones wear out. Besides if I win this dress it will be a Godsend....my red headed step child was talking about the possibility of getting a TV for his room....the next day one was provided by God. Hubby was astonished yet still doubtful about it. Who knows, perhaps God will get me the dress! Thanks!
I want this dress. I love it! Pick ME sweet random number selector.
Cross fingers....
Oooh, I could really go for a dress! I started running and dropped from a size 20 to 14 and now I can use all the new clothes I can get! Except it was a little disappointing to see that I still can't fit into some of the dresses, the sizes stop at medium for some.
Posted the link on my blog!
I haven't bought a dress in soooo long for exactly the reasons you stated. I would LOVE to win a dress! And a stylish one at that!
I'm on a dress kick right now! This one looks great!

Cindy S
I don't even own a dress...but would love one :)
Ok....Desperate plea here: Please help me, it's hotter than the sun here and I always have to wear 13 layers with ANY dress I wear. AND.....I, too, am SUPER tall (ok, just 5' 10", but that's really tall) and I can NEVER find "knee length" dresses that ACTUALLY go down to my knees and would LOVE one of these!
ALLLRIGHT!!! love the shabby apple and could always use a new dress.
I love these dresses...and I love your blog!
I love love love Shabby Apple and would adore a new dress from them.
It's my birthday this week. I would love a new free cute dress!
It's embarrassing to go places with my one-year-old because he is so much better-dressed than I am. This dress would really help shrink the gap.
Ah I'd love to win! Am still working on losing baby weight (8 months later!) and this would be such a perk me up dress!!
I NEED this dress!!! I have been spending way too many hours in my closet on Sunday mornings agonizing over what to wear since I became a mom 8 years ago.
I am what my sister calls "pleasantly plump". This looks like a dream come true!
Karen
It is really hard to find a cute dress that covers up! I'm crossing my fingers and toes!
I'm am so with you on the dresses that hit me mid thigh. I've taught my kids to address me as "hot momma" but the general public I'm having a hard time convincing.
Awesome! I love this!
I love that sassy side tie.
I would love a chance to win a cute dress!
Every girly girl need another dress!
With my husbands layoff I could definitely use some good news, good vibes, and a great dress!
Count me in, and will also feature on my blog at:
www.wearechasingbutterflies.blogspot.com

Those dresses are adorable!!!
I would love the dress! Please pick me!
I really need a new dress! I can't remember the last time I bought anything for myself.
Oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please! I have always wanted a Shabby Apple dress but have never been able to fork over the money, I am a Target price kind of gal!
Remind me again what a dress is....
I'm a huge Shabby Apple fan and would love to win....!
Fantastic. I have been looking for a dress that I can use for a quick dress-and-go and look pulled-together for months. Crossing fingers...toes...eyes...arms, legs...
dear meanest mom,
i like this dress, it would make me dress like a girl.
sincerely,
the femininely challenged.
Please, please, please, please? Pretty please? (Gets on knees, whimpers) Please? PLEASE? I need a "generous fit"!! I am always being turned onand off and bloating and shrinking by what is in my freezer! PRETTY PLEASE WITH A LEG CAST DECORATIVE LAWN ORNAMENT ON TOP? :D
Ok all I"m going to say is - a 3 year old, a 13 month old, and nine weeks away from delivering my third BOY. All I'm saying is I would love to feel like a real GIRL with a pretty dress!
I love Shabby Apple!!
Um yeah, I really need this kind of dress.
I don't just need this, my closet needs this, and my husband needs this. (I think he's sick of my p.j.s.)
I would love to win a new dress! Who doesn't want to look good, and feel good and not have to spend a fortune doing it? Thanks for a great giveaway. Love Shabby Apple!
OKay after having two babies and desperately trying to get back into shape, this dress would be much needed. I am already in the skirt and sweater shirt era!! Maybe then I could live up to some of the other moms at church who bounce back right after havig their babies to an even SMALLER size than they were before they even got pregnant!!
Good heavens! This would be a dream come true! Hoping I have a little good luck this time!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes Please!!!
Just had a baby and would love a new dress!
Love Shabby Apple! Pick me..I never win! And I have 3 little boys at home, I need to feel girly!
Aww! I live in Utah, so I definitely need more modest attire for church and family outings! Pick me, pick me!
And thank you for the possibility to win. I love your blog (although I'm not a great commenter). Hope you and your adorable kiddos have a great day!
Oh, I drool over Shabby Apple, and still don't own one of their dresses! I would love this.
I am an avid flip flop and jeans wearer. If I got picked, I'd wear this dress grocery shopping. Then maybe someone would be jealous enough of me to talk about how overdressed I am for shopping for food, rather than me saying that about other people!!
I totally want to win this dress!!! I just had a baby two months ago and it would be nice to own a cute, "forgiving" dress that doesn't show off the muffin top that is now my stomach!!! Please help!!! lol - Megan/SuperMegs28@yahoo.com :)
I've been pregnant or nursing since the year 2000! I think I forgot what I look like in a dress...remind me, please.
I need a new dress. Really Bad! I'm still wearing old dresses from the mission and that was 12 years ago.
Oh me me! Over here...(hand waving furiously)...me please!
I would love to have a new dress, I'm tired of the same old same old:)
I've always wanted to look like Jackie O!
Love the idea, but would they be wiling to hold off on sending the dress for a bit? I'm pregnant with twins and have no idea what size I'll be when I'm done with all that. . . though sadly, it will likely be larger than before.
OK...here's desperation...I'm 45...I have 3 kids(16, 13, 8 years old)...I've been a stay at home mom for 16 years...I have a new driver(not the golf kind)in the house...I need a new well fitting dress...I'm tired...I really think your blog is the best in the world...you make me laugh
i've always been a fan of mid 30 moms in mini skirts. keeps things fresh.
I live in the hot, dry, dessert so the last thing I want to do is add another layer or wear a sweater. I was so excited to hear that it is actually knee length because at 5'10" I too have a really hard time finding dresses that fall at the knee. This dress is so cute!Hope I win!
I love it!! and would love to win it!!! In this Arizona heat, this dress would be PERFECT!!!
I love that dress!! I hope I win!
I would love this dress!! I hate shopping for dresses...and the layers that go with them. Please pick me!!!
I Would love to win this dress!!
Cute little refreshing dress...would be great to wear in the Hot Texas Heat...Pick me...Pleeeeeaaaaasssseeee- :~)
After having a baby, none of my previous dresses fit me. I kept them for sometime "hoping" to fit back into them. Just last weekend I gave all of them to Salvation Army, since my body shape will never be the same again to fit into size 0 dresses. I definitely need a new dress. And this one looks really nice. I wish I win.
Such a cute dress! I would love to have it!
Oh please, can I have it? I would love a cute DRESS instead of the skirt thing!
Oh, pick me! So tired of my shirt/skirt combos!
Gorgeous! I need that - something stylish and sexy - in MY closet? You had me with fits comfortably - and then you added won't sweat to death? A girls dream. :)
Just what my expanding waistline needs!
ooooo! Pretty!! I LOVE it! So hard to find cute modest dresses!
Ooo! Me me!! Great dress!
ooooohhhh, love this dress.
A dress that fits!? What a blessing. Just had a baby and the very thought of having to keep wearing maternity dress clothes (the ones I had big bonfire plans for...)just about brings me to tears while i dream about being pre-preggo size again!
Pretty please pick me!!
Oh, I must have this dress. I'm crossing my fingers and holding my breath.
Why do i torture myself and even comment, leading me to believe that there is even a chance I might win...
It is worth a shot!
Tiffany
What a great dress shop and contest! Count me in please!
Nothing like a pretty dress in the summer or fall.
Also being a tall girl, despite how sexy I'll look in a too-short dress at my husband's promotion dinner, all other attendees at said event would be so grateful if I had this super cute Shabby Apple dress. Thanks!
I agree with everything you said. I would love a dress that didn't require a sweater or undershirt or that actually allowed me to sit down at church. All of my dresses go thigh high when I sit. yikes.
Oh pretty. I have been drooling over the dresses from shabby apple, but have been pregnant forever. Now that part is done, now is the time. Fingers crossed...
I would love a new dress that fits generously to wear in a month after my baby is born and as my body changes :)
I have to say, this give away caught my eye. Having not purchased a thing for myself for several years (9 to be exact) I would love something that made me feel human, instead of a puked on, pooped on, snotted on, Mommy and day care provider. I refuse to go out with my hubbie in his nice work clothes when mine are all stained and well from the 90's.
Love the blog. It's real and I can relate in so many ways.
April Kuther
Mommy to 1 little angel boy and two princesses, Day care provider to 9 little kiddos
Oh, would I love to have something that FITS my still-shrinking, post-baby (read: one year later!) body. please enter me. Thanks!
Oh, I so need a classy dress! After years of the skirt/sweater combo, I bought my first dress in years last week--a maxi dress from the JUNIORS dept (size *ahem*) with the requisite undershirt. Please save me from my desperation and help me dress my age!
I was just telling my hubby that I have no dresses any more!! I'm sad to say I too have gone the way of the skirts and sweater sets. Please Please PLEASE PICK ME!!! :) Help me be stylish again!
Linked....please pick me ;)
How cute! I would love one!
I love Shabby Apple!! I can just see myself in it, covered in messy fingerprints and drool from my kids!
Wow! What a beautiful dress!
Now, this giveaway is meant for me.
Having just had my third "robust" baby boy, I am in desperate need to feel like a woman. Only this dress can save me from my testosterone funk. Please.
This bless belongs on an east coaster! Humidity + no one else in my ward will have it already . . .
I almost died when I saw the first dress and was wondering if you lost your mind! But now that i see the "real" dress I really love it :) Wishing to win one
Megan
I own two dresses. One I wore to my father's funeral the other accentuates my muffin top perfectly, so never mind, I certainly do not need a new fabulous dress.
sylviarj at yahoo dot com
Pick me! Pick me!
Ohhh yeah- I am one of those on the East coast who gets soaked just walking outside. I'd be so happy to have a cute dress, that fits good and actually feels good too!!
I've wanted one of their dresses forever!! Pick me! Pick me!
Ohhh, black, so slimming, and so calling my name...so...pick me, pick me!
I've lost 22 pounds since January, and have had my eye on Shabby Apple for a new dress to celebrate. Even better if it were free?!?
Great dresses. I would love to win one!
I am so entering this contest with this comment.
I was just lamenting the complete impossiblity of finding dresses that aren't sleeveless. Love this one!
I left a comment earlier, but I just posted about it in my own blog, complete with a link! http://rebeccamil.blogspot.com/
That dress is so cute! While I'd love to win it, sweats and scrubs are really more important attire to this mommy who is potty training her triplet boys.
A year ago, I made the awkward transition from law school wife/constantly pregnant or having babies to someone who actually needs to wear decent clothing. Apparently, old jeans and flip flops are not appropriate for fancy law firm dinners and such.
I would love to stop dressing like a college student (now that I'm in my 30s) and I think this dress is the perfect place to start!
I love the way these look! Had never heard of Shabby Apple before...so here's to trying to win one! ;o) Love your blog!
I love it! I can NEVER find a dress I love!
kelli1868@yahoo.com
Cute! I'm in!
Oh I love love love this dress! I've been dreaming of something Shabby Apple and hope to wear this to my engagement party :)
I would love, love, love to win this dress!
I have swooned over these dresses before but am yet to buy one. After I win one then I will be a customer for life I am sure.
I should definitely win because unlike many of the women who've entered, I do own a dress. In fact, I own two. One I purchased when I was 17, (I'm now 28) and wore to my high school graduation. The other, I purchased when I was 25, and the first time I wore it, my 13 year old cousin announced she had the same dress. Please help me stop pretending I'm still a teenager!
I want to win this! A freebie report would be a great way to start off my new blog!!
I would love a "generous" dress for my indecisive weight!
I would love to have a hot mama dress! After having my third boy in April, a new pretty dress would just feel so good!
Those are so nice, I would love to win!!

It has been so long since I bought a real dress that I'd almost forgotten they don't come in two pieces! I would so love to win this one!
Me, me, me! I need a new, fun, sassy dress that will survive the sweltering humidity of Tennessee!
hoping to channel some jackie o and somehow find a giveaway for JFK looks for my hubbie. then maybe we can look decent enough for family pictures - we wouldn't have to wear our obama mom jeans.
What an awesome giveaway. I LOVE this dress!
I LOVE this dress--so cute! So much better then the darn maternity skirt I've been wearing to church! And no, I'm no longer pregnant! Oh the joys of motherhood!!!
I had a baby this spring and I am still trying to figure out what size I am. I would love a new dress! Especially one that is so cute!
Yay, need a dress-my hubby is planning a hot date for us and it would be nice to be in something other than the same ole' same ole'. :-) Karen in NC
carltonandkaren2@aol.com

Love the dress! Its just what I need after losing the baby weight.
I just bought this exact dress! but I think I'll enter anyway and give it to one of my sisters if I win. (the question is which sister do I choose?)
I would love it. I've admired this dress for a long time. As for desperation, my sister gets married next month and I haven't found anything yet.
I love a fabulous new dress!
I totally need this. I am 6'1" and have a hard time getting dresses to fit right! Love them!
I desperately need a new stylish dress - I am still wearing hand me downs from my youngest sister and her roommates - from 6 years ago!!!
I know - I am way hot too.
Oh my goodness, I live in Connecticut and the humidity has been terrible this summer! I am in total need of a nice summer dress that breathes. Also, I hate wearing sweaters with dresses. I have lost three sweaters that way because I got too warm and left them on a chair.
Please.. I have zero cute dresses. And I need something smokin' for my anniversary.
Fingers crossed!
MEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
I think their dresses are gorgeous, I've always wanted to try one!
slavetosave at gmail dot com
I am always trying to find clothes for the mommmy in me that still needs to be young. As a mother of a lively 4 year old boy bending down and keeping everything in is a must. I need this.
I never win anything, but what the heck!
I love Shabby Apple but haven't been able to afford a new dress. I reaaallly want to win :)
Vicki
I need to win because I have lost 70 pounds and have nothing to wear. and i also have no style, cause when you are bigger than average, you just buy whatever fits, which is never a dress. I have not worn a dress in years. and after years of that, i have forgotten how to dress in anything but slob-mom style.
I hate shopping for dresses. Maybe winning this contest will help me get over that!
Great dress!
How fun! A dress would be perfect!
These dresses is so adorable. Living in Arizona is so pleasant with it being 115 degrees, during monsoon season with humidity upwards of 20%, I couldn't imagine needing a comfortable dress to wear.
I don't usually wear dresses, but this one I would love!
super cute! i love their maternity dresses, too!!
I love Shabby Apple! I need this dress!
That looks like the perfect black dress, gotta have it!
I totally believe if I win the dress, I will look as skinny as the model in the picture.
Here's hopeing!
Oohh nice!
Love and want this dress
angie.langbecker@hotmail.com

As another tall woman who could use a non-mid-thigh length dress, count me in!
