Shabby Apple Dress Giveaway!!!

When was the last time you bought a dress that you didn't have to pair with a sweater that costs twice as much as the dress itself, a special bra, or weird looking undershirt?

Maybe it's just me, but it seems that stylish dresses that fit real women's bodies are going the way of the dinosaurs. Around these parts, they're virtually extinct. In their place, the timelessly sexy skirt + sweater set has taken over.

(e-whistle)

While I'm a girl who appreciates the flexibility of mix n' match clothing, there are occasions when I feel inspired to branch out from the world of adjustable waistbands. In these moments, I turn to Shabby Apple.

The ladies at Shabby Apple were kind enough to send me the Jackie O dress to try on for size.

Here are my thoughts uncensored:

* I'm relatively tall and the vast majority of so-called knee-length dresses sold in the mall hit me mid-thigh at best. Don't get me wrong, like most middle-aged women, I look smokin' hot in skin tight mini-skirts, but I am finding that a growing number of people consider those who dress less than half their age to be socially inappropriate. The Jackie O dress hits, as promised, perfectly at the knee.

* Most of Shabby Apple's dresses, including the Jackie O, "fit generously." Translation: If you fluctuate between clothing sizes depending on what's in your freezer, you'll most likely be okay with the size you order.

* Shabby Apple's summer line offers full coverage, but the cotton/spandex blend makes the dresses breathable and light. In other words, you won't sweat to death when you wear a Shabby Apple dress, even on the East Coast, where the humidity can knock your socks off.

Shabby Apple's BRAND NEW line of dresses is due out any minute and to celebrate, they're giving one lucky reader her very own Jackie O Dress!!!! All you need to do to enter this contest is to leave a comment. Want a second chance to win this dress? Post a link to this giveaway on your blog and leave a second comment!

It's that easy, and that awesome! The contest starts NOW and ends this FRIDAY, July 31 at midnight. The winner will be chosen at random, but comments expressing desperation are always appreciated and make me laugh.

Good Luck!

*If you want to sponsor a future giveaway on the Meanest Mom blog or are interested in sidebar advertising, email me at themeanestmom at gmail dot com.

So I had decided against entering this contest (convincing myself that I'd look terrible in a Shabby Apple dress). But then, I read the bit about "...If you fluctuate between clothing sizes depending on what's in your freezer..." and I thought maybe, just maybe...

Scott said...

I will enter for my wife - because she IM'ed me at work to tell me how cute she thought these dresses are. Maybe I should just tell her to buy one for herself if she doesn't win - after all it is her birthday too.

I have drooled over the Shabby Apple dresses for months! What I wouldn't do for one. After investing all my money in returning my post-baby breasts to their proper position, I've had absolutely no luck finding a dress to adequately flatter them! I'm sure this dress would be just the thing. PLEASE PICK ME!

A new dress would be awesome! We don't have money for me to buy new clothes and the husband loves when I wear a dress. Now that nursing is finishing up dresses can be worn again, but I don't have any that fit/look like they are not my grandmother's. Here's to hoping!

You know, I had heard of Shabby Apple before but as wonderful as their stuff is, we've been unemployed basically since I heard of them, and can't spend on clothes. Thanks for the chance to "enter to win"!

So cute! I am always envious of women who look so cute in dresses. I tend to be nervous to wear them since I'm usually covered in spit and food all day (the joys of a toddler), but I'm willing to risk (or just avoid my kid for the day) it for such a cute dress.

I would love this dress, so classy, that might help me out as I am lacking in that particular area. But so would a boob job.. either that or a bra that will stop sliding up over my sad excuse for bosoms...

I love this!

OH! I know how to beg! Please Please PLEASE!! I love dresses, and I'm trying to break away from skirts and shirts

I should at least try...my church would be ever so grateful to see me in something than the two skirt/shirt combos that I currently have in heavy rotation.

speaking as an east coast gal, i would LOVE for a dress not to wilt in the clammy, sweaty humidity of summer :) plus it is incredibly cute!

I’m sure everyone will agree that a closet stocked with dresses from weddings will always represent fashion at it’s best. Most people only experience such fashion disasters while visiting the local thrift store, mind only for donating purposes NEVER to purchase such revisits one can only hope to be ancient but would more accurately be a fashion designers example of ‘what-not-to wear” EVER. Every Sunday, I am blindingly reminded that all my dresses in my closet were sadly purchased by me in a faint attempt to took thin and fashionable for such weddings. The only exception being a very loud printed dress that at first was flattering but is now best know for it’s ease in traveling, meaning crammed into the last available space of a suitcase. Some are too small, some are too long, some represent a cross of prom and funeral fashion. The latest family wedding photo featured the bottom of my slip showing underneath an otherwise somewhat fashionable skirt, however, 10 inches of a straight skirt “peeking” from underneath an A-Line styled skirt rubbed me the wrong way, and others too I’m sure (though you would think any bystander would have volunteered such helpful information, but you would be wrong). Perhaps I would have chosen my last store-bought dress more wisely had I been warned nine years ago that after children, your body will betray you and wage war against you, button down dresses will fail to stay closed while holding a squirming child, especially in public, and that chiffon is a Mommy Fashion DON’T. My only fear in winning would be the glaring need for shoes that don’t have cracked creases, worn toes, and peeling heels with the nail protruding the bottom. Never fear, my three girls always look adorable, people think I’m adopted.

Oh my goodness I am in great need of this dress. I haven't worn a dress to church for the last 9 months. My baby doesn't take a bottle and that means not cute or totally immodest. I'm getting ready to stop nursing at church and would love to have something so cute to celebrate!

I have been looking for a dress for my daughter that is long enough to come to her knees. I will have to check out their website. They sure look cute.

Kris said...

Oh for heaven's sake. I'm 7 months pregnant and on my way to being the size of my first apartment. At least I'd have some motivation stop eating cheese in vast quantities once this baby comes. Or I could just order it in size Elephant. "Fits generously", you say? Let's hope.

You had me at "FITS GENEROUSLY!" How ingenious!!

My closet is jam-packed with clothes, but I can only wear 1/5 of them - you see, I have the "fluctuating" problem you mentioned - I have S, M, L, XL, XXL periods in my life! :(
Can you feel the desperation?!?

If you could only see the drool... not literally but lets say figuratively. I have been absolutely in love with the Shabby apple line since it came out. Jackie O is on my list and since I've been halted on my shopping siore I'd love to get my hands on one. The best part about the dresses, is that you don't have to layer! They are modest and stunning all by themselves, which every modern girls needs! Let me just say, Love, love love love!

Like many of your other readers, my "have an 18 month old and a new 3 week old baby" body could definitely use a pick me up. Although there is a 1 in 800 chance at the moment, so I won't get too excited. I did, however, change all of my Christ-centered pictures on my desktop to more exciting pictures of me riding unicycles and running through meadows, so my positive computer feng-shui should bring me some luck, right? Here's hoping!
